Last week OSC’s lead Acoustician, Craig Stenton, virtually enjoyed the Effects of Sound on Marine Mammals 2022 (ESOMM2022) conference in Beaufort, North Carolina.
The conference spanned a week consisting of internationally recognised researchers and collaborators, highlighting the cutting-edge of marine mammal science, featuring everything from jumpy sealions to virtual whales, a multitude of additional stressors, and mathematical models that could make your head spin.
Whilst it’s going to take a while to unpack some of the excellent research recently published (and even longer for the exciting research still being conducted), the information shared at conferences and events such as ESOMM2022 serves to not only improve the services we can provide our customers, but most importantly to better enable us to safeguard the health and safety of our oceans and marine mammals.
Exciting things are on the horizon, and it’s a privilege to be a part of it all!
