OSC, a technology focused marine science company, provides Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) across stages of a decommissioning project for the offshore energy, construction, government, and defence sectors. Some of OSC’s core services include provision of underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) surveys and image-data analyses, which involves collecting, processing, and annotating vast amounts of ROV video footage. OSC also performs collection, analysis, and assessment of underwater-sound and its impact on marine mammals and wildlife. OSC’s core Rigs-to-Reefs (RTR) decommissioning programme indicates strongly that offshore installations/structures provide reliable feeding habitats for marine mammals and their prey. OSC has performed and published a plethora of field studies for a consortium of clients, and were the first ever to publish records of ROV imagery of marine mammals around offshore structures, with footage showing seals following subsea pipelines. OSC have also published ROV-derived records of marine biota associated with a new offshore production platform prior to and following installation and data from an established platform showing evidence of on-jacket reproduction.
