Vacancy: ROV Technician/Pilot

Ocean Science Consulting Limited (OSC) seeks to enter into a joint venture with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) technician/pilot to perform inshore ROV surveys (e.g. harbours, aquaculture, etc.). This is a rare opportunity for a suitably motivated candidate to build an ROV surveying wing within a successful marine consultancy. The candidate will be expected to source & secure work, then perform surveys. Main duties will include servicing, deploying, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the ROV, as well as sales, marketing, promotion, business development, and client liaison. 

Applicants must be technically and commercially minded, able to undertake field-equipment installation, operation, deployment, and recovery at a high level. Ability to download, and quality control data from ROVs for scientists in the Research and Development (R&D) wing of the company is required. The successful applicant will assist with planning and execution of field work, and supplier liaison. The successful applicant will have prior experience with ROVs and other marine instrumentation. This post is based at the Company’s headquarters in Dunbar, Scotland, and will require travel to project sites nationally. This position is open only to those entitled legally to work in the UK and may involve working offshore. Discretion is essential (the position is under Non-Disclosure Agreement, NDA).

Required:

  • A degree in either science/engineering, or relevant experience; 
  • Experience with ROV maintenance, operation and piloting;
  • Understand subsea inspection surveys and techniques;
  • Ability to lift 20 kg;
  • Not prone to sea-sickness or able to mitigate with proactive measures;
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, and to meet tight deadlines;
  • Full clean driving licence;
  • Willingness to travel; and,
  • Must be legally allowed to work in the UK and possess a UK bank account.

Desirable:

  • Current valid BOSIET and O&G medical.
