I have always loved the sea. My friends love to call me a Selkie as whenever there is a body of water around I cannot stop myself from running in and going for a swim. Even if it is the middle of winter and -2 degrees! So the opportunity to work at sea had massive appeal.

I studied Criminology at university, getting into the theory of serial killers and domestic abuse to try and understand how and why criminals behave the way that they do. The research I conducted during this time was incredibly interesting and I have always loved studying academic papers and compiling reports to discuss my findings. So, the opportunity to continue studying at OSC (and to study topics which are far less gruesome) was incredibly exciting.

I have worked with animals all my life. From working on the farm I grew up on, to East Links family Park in Dunbar where I cared for exotic animals such as Emus, Llamas and deer, to working with Barbary Macaques from Mauritius at Charles River labs. It is exciting to know that I can now take my skills in animal behavioural observations and be able to apply them to marine life.

In my spare time, I love going to music festivals, going to charity shops to find a bargain, playing on my games consoles (currently obsessed with Hogwarts Legacy) and spending time with my husband, our two cats and our dog.
