I am just starting my career with OSC, working as a marine biologist and looking to branch into the MMO field. I am sure anyone who saw my face after that first snorkelling holiday a decade ago, could predict me becoming obsessed with sea creatures.
In the summer of 2023, I was awarded my bachelor’s in marine biology from the University of St Andrews. My thesis was on the anaerobic diving behaviour of Weddell Seals and seeing one in real life in the Antarctic Peninsula, tied up the project with a bow. Admittedly, it was fast asleep digesting its feast rather than carrying out the extreme deep dives I had been studying. Visiting Antarctica was certainly a highlight of 2023. My favourite memory of the voyage in the Peninsula was watching a juvenile Humpback whale feed at 11pm with the most stunning backdrop. I am excited to see what other locations and marine animals I can tick off my bucket list. A Basking shark is the next dream encounter, so fingers crossed.
I enjoy dinghy sailing, sub aqua diving and wandering about rock pools; one could say I need a regular dose of vitamin Sea (I do also have a weakness for terrible puns). Outside of work, I spend my time reading books and drinking hot chocolate whilst being buried under blankets.
